Ohhhh – Sparkly!

So, as you may know, I’m building a pretty large garden this year.  Some of what we want to grow needs a sturdy trellis to climb, so off to the hardware store I went to find some steel conduit to use as a frame.

Tonight I am finally to the stage of cutting the conduit to size so I can fit it together to form my trellis frames.  When I started cutting, I was shocked to find out just how hot those little pieces of metal really get when they come shooting off as sparks and hit you in the face.   Owww!

Armed with my goggles, ear protection, a long sleeved shirt, and some heavy gloves, I tried cutting the metal again.  This time I was struck by how pretty the sparks are in the early evening (now that they were not trying to singe every exposed part of my body, I could notice other things).

So I grabbed my camera and took these:

Let me know if you would like high-res versions of these shots.

I finished the cuts and put together my first trellis frame.  It feels even more sturdy than I was expecting.
